1) Their Story.
Extinction Rebellion’s founder – Gail Bradbrook – started the organisation as she had enough of the world being used as a dump. On the 31st of October 2018, she and a few others announced a Declaration of Rebellion against the Government. One thousand five hundred people showed up to fight against pollution and human extinction.
2) Their Strategy.
At the core of Extinction Rebellion’s philosophy is nonviolent civil disobedience. They promote civil disobedience and rebellion because they think it is necessary– they are asking people to find their courage and to collectively do what is necessary to bring change to the world.
3) Their Structure.
They organise in small groups. These groups are connected in a complex web that is constantly evolving as they grow and learn. They’re working to build a movement that is participatory, decentralised, and inclusive.
4) Their Principles and Values.
- They want to create a long lasting world.
- They want to do what is necessary
- They want a healthy world.
